They allowed us to open a bank account prior to having all the necessary documents. They provided equipment for us to be able to accept credit card payments at our auction at no cost. And they eliminated all credit card processing fees: nearly a $1,000 value! They've approached us to partner on a fundraising effort that helps them and the QAE community. We'd like to encourage families to consider this great deal which supports our school and a valuable locally-owned business. For every personal checking account with direct deposit our community opens at the Queen Anne branch, our PTSA will earn a $50 donation. Additionally, you can earn up to $300 depending upon the services you choose to receive.

the process of identifying new PTSA board members for this coming school year. Current open Executive Board positions are: Co-President, Secretary and Co-Treasurer. We are looking for someone who can reasonably commit to a 2-year term for each of these positions. In the case of President and Treasurer, the first year is a 'apprentice period' of sorts and allows for much better continuity of governance. See http://www.queenanneelementary.com/ptsa-position-descriptions.html for specific info on each position or email the Exec member currently holding the position. President: Karrie Sanderson Co-President (VP): Jill Gallagher Secretary: Kate Bagley Treasurer: Yazmin Mehdi If you know someone, (yourself or someone else), who would be an energetic, positive and responsive addition to our board with skills relevant to the position(s) available, please let us know by sending an email to qaeptsa@yahoogroups.com. PRIORITY: If you can serve on the Nominating Committee, so we can have great nominees to select from in time for our next General Membership meeting, that would be an immense help. Committee size: We need a minimum of 3 current non-exec board parents to get together to identify and 'vet' volunteer nominees for open Executive Board positions. Time commitment: probably an hour or two-long meeting within the next week or two. Thanks for all you do! Heather Anderson Parent Volunteer Coordinator, 2010-11 We are beginning to ramp up preparations for next year. One of the most important of these will be hiring new teachers to accommodate our anticipated increase in student enrollment. David Elliott, our fearless leader, needs to know who he can call upon to help with 1) paper screening of applicants and 2) applicant interviews. If you are interested, available and *have completed the SPS-required training*, please let me know by Wednesday evening so I can get the list to David this week.
Regarding availability, if there are days you can NOT participate, please list them in your response. Below you will find the training schedule. Most relevant is the 5/5/11 training date - this Thursday. Anyone who's interested in participating in QAE hiring this spring either needs to go on Thursday or already be on the district's list of trained individuals. Thanks for all you do for QAE! Heather Anderson Parent Volunteer Coordinator, 2010-11 The date is set for the first ever QAE slumber party- June 11! There are still spaces available for 2nd graders and above who want to participate in this exciting event in the library with Mr. Elliott, Mr. Jeffrey and Ms. Cryan Leary. Tickets are $100 each. Please sign up in the office and leave a check made out to QAE PTSA in the PTSA box. Contact Natalie Carlson If you have any questions.
