Step Right Up! It’s time for the QAE Annual Field Day! All students and parent volunteers are invited to join in on the outdoor fun on Thursday, June 23rd at Little Howe Park located at 1912 Warren Ave N.
There will be playful games, face painting, ice cream and Tug-O-War! We will also have a few water games, so please make sure your child is prepared. Field Day tips for the kiddos:

Classes that are meeting on multiple days end on the final day of that class (i.e., a MWF class ends on the Friday; T/Th ends on the Thursday). ParentNET and the QAE FOCS (Families of Color Seattle) group will present a facilitated workshop on Tuesday, June 14th from 6:15pm-8:30pm in the QAE library and cafeteria. Refreshments (and possibly childcare) will be provided. Stay tuned for more details! The Executive Director of Seattle's FOC group, Amy Pak, will be speaking and leading the facilitation on the topic of "Undoing racism and teaching equity with children.” The Families of Color's mission statement is "to build a strong community by supporting families of color through parenting programs, resource sharing and fostering meaningful connections." More information will come home to you all in the orange folders next week. These groups hope to continue the dialogue into the fall with additional workshops and speakers. Please come join other families for this wonderful opportunity! The last General PTSA Meeting of the school year will be Wednesday, June 15, 7pm - 9pm in the school cafeteria.
QAE PTSA will review the Budget for 2016-17 and introduce nominees for next year's Board. Agenda is coming soon. Childcare will be available in the library for a nominal $5 suggested donation. Hope to see you there, QAE PTSA Seattle Public Schools is hosting a public reading of the book, “I Am Jazz” by co-author Jessica Herthel.
This event is intended for families, students of all ages, as well as educators. Jessica will read her book, and answer audience questions within the first hour, and then we will break into one-hour workshops. Workshops are as follows:

Queen Anne Cub Scouts Where Boys Get To Be Boys Pack 70/72 Welcomes Families of all Kinds Scouting builds character, responsibility, self-sufficiency, ethics and leadership; all while the boys have lots of fun. We go hiking and camping together. We go to Mariners games, ride bikes, swim and fish. We have a Pinewood Derby where we race cars that we build ourselves, and we have a soapbox derby where we ride in homemade cars. We learn about first-aid and how to read a map.
