It's YearBook Time

We are excited to put together a 2020-2021 yearbook to commemorate this unusual year. 

As a PTSA, this is one way we can continue to build and foster community in the virtual world we’re living in. We know that you are busy and have more things on your plate than ever before. However, with just a little help from each of you, every student will be represented in our yearbook and each student will have a special memento of this unprecedented school year. 

At this point, we believe self-submission is our best path for collection and we thank you in advance. Your submissions will help us create “class photos”. It's a different kind of challenge in this year filled with new and creative ways to get work done, but we think it can happen with some help from you and your families.

Here's two options for gathering those photos.
Option 1:  You take the photo and send to [email protected] 
Deadline: March 1 
Email Title: Grade-Teacher-First Name-Last Name   
Example: 3rd-Dudley-Theodore-Hildebrandt  
 
Option 2: Your Class Coordinator takes a screen shot. Be sure to let your class coordinator know if you need this help!

Some Photo Taking Tips:  

• Place the lighting in front of your child(avoid back-lighting)
• Chest to top of head should fill the picture frame 
• Plain background is best 
• Daylight is encouraged - take them outside if you can.  
• Portrait mode on your cell camera is great if you have it. If not, no worries! 
• Only the student should be in the picture. No siblings or pets for this one.  
• If you don't know if you got a good shot, take more than one, send in two.  
• Don't worry about perfection. Do you best!  

  
Other Things to Know:  

• Images of QAE students that are posted on Flipgrid PBLs may also be used in the yearbook. 
• We are also collecting action images of students doing and being students in virtual school, doing jog-a-thon, doing PBLs, doing baking, with pets, getting outside, crafting, playing instruments, reading, cooking, class unity parties, doing school pick-ups (library books, work packets and art supplies), wearing masks, doing Ms. Appels wonderful art projects, doing Mr. Stevens helpful and fun P.E. activities, Ms. Jaynes Library.....the list goes on! Think about our school pillars. If you see your kiddo demonstrating any of these please send us a photo! Send them to [email protected] at any time with Yearbook and Teacher name in the Email Title. Writing a description of the images is helpful too! We want to capture as much of our QAE community of kids as possible. The deadline isn't until June. 
• Only images of individual kids will be accepted. If additional people in the image can be cropped out, they will be. We want to be sensitive to all of the Covid rules and regs so any group photos will not be used.  

There may or may not be an opportunity for QAE students to get a professional photo taken sometime this Spring, this is still to be determined. If this does happen it will take place outside and most likely not on school grounds. It will be up to parents and caregivers to get their student to the photo location which will most likely be in the Queen Anne neighborhood. All Covid precautions, rules and regs, masks and distancing will be in place.
