Congratulations to the kids, and a huge Thank You to all of the parents and teachers who helped with the Walk-a-thon! We had such an amazing response from the entire school. The kids had a great time, and were rightfully proud of the money that they raised, and the laps that they walked, or more likely, ran! The highlights: · We had 100% participation- every student in school on Friday was out there moving! And almost everyone turned in their sponsor forms and collection envelopes. If you forgot on Friday, don’t worry, we would still love to see them this week! Just send them in your student’s boomerang folders. Thanks! · Those crazy kids collectively ran over 300 miles!! The laps that they did for the Walk-a-thon will also apply to their running club totals, so lots of kids will be getting “foot” charms awarded at the Monday morning meeting. · And now the best part…Our net funds raised came in at almost $26,000!! You may remember that our goal for the Walk-a-thon was $10,000, so we blew that away! More than half of this total was due to a few significant donations from QAE families, some of whom were also able to leverage corporate matching, so a huge “thank you” to those families, and to Microsoft and Regence! In the Monday morning assembly, we will be awarding a rocket trophy to the class who raised the most money, as well as gift certificates to Queen Anne Books, Communique, and Izilla Toys to the students who collected the most sponsors and ran the most laps. The class in each group (K,1 and 2-5) who completed the most laps will win a smoothie party with Mr. Roberts! We also would like to thank our local businesses who donated money, prizes, food, and supplies to make this event a success: Wink cupcakes, Leone & Vaughn Orthodontics, Holley Ring w/ Windermere, Twirl Café, The Icebox, Communique Gifts, Queen Anne Books, Izilla Toys, Trader Joes, and Archie McPhee. And Parents, we want to thank you- we know that you are the ones who motivated and assisted your kids in gathering sponsorships, so, Congratulations Team, we did it!! Also, the Walk-a-thon t-shirts were a big hit with the kids, and the parents too (thank you, Tony Teske for your design!) They were popular enough that we heard that a few of our volunteers didn’t get theirs- if this was you, please let us know and we will make sure that you get one. For anyone else who would like one, we can place another order, and you too can have one for just $10! Just send an email with what size you would like to Natalie- carlson_natalie@earthlink.net or Holley at hring@windermere.com. Comments are closed.
