Christie Rotarius is excited to join SCT as a teaching artist! She holds a Master of Music in Musical Theatre Performance and an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU. With a varied background in theater and music education for more than 20 years, she is also an accomplished performing artist (under the stage name Christie Lynn Devoe), having performed regularly in the NYC area in theatre, opera, television, film, sketch comedy and improv at venues including Broadway's George Gershwin Theatre, Madison Square Garden, and the Original Improv Comedy Club. Prior to her family’s move to Seattle, she was on faculty at NYU as a voice teacher and worked as a teaching artist with StudentsLive Broadway Education Company in conjunction with Wicked on Broadway. As a teaching artist, Christie believes in storytelling as a means of empowerment for every voice and encourages both young and old to find their own voice and share it!
Jasmine Jean Sim is an actor, director, and teaching artist who moved to Seattle from California after graduating from the Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts. She then graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a concentration in creating new works. She has enjoyed a successful and creative career in the theater scene so far, most notably as a member of ACT Theatre's first Core Company in 2016. She has had the pleasure of working with The 5th Avenue Theatre, ACT Theatre, The Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Shakespeare Company, Village Theatre, ArtsWest, and many more! She hopes to continue building both as an artist and as a teacher.
Maia Nowack grew up in Seattle, where SCT was a big part of developing their love for theatre. They graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Theatre and a minor in Dance. While there, they taught both drama and dance to students in the Evanston School District and assisted at Baker Demonstration School. Maia completed both the drama school internship and teaching artist apprenticeship programs at SCT, and is excited to continue teaching, playing, and growing with all their wonderful students. When not at SCT, they can also be found teaching dance to students of all ages at American Dance Institute.
Madeline Napel joined SCT this fall after graduating from Northwestern University with a BA in Theatre and Sociology, focus in Theatre for Young Audiences. At Northwestern, she served two terms as the Executive Director of Seesaw Theatre, a student organization specializing in theatre for and with young people with physical and developmental disabilities. She spent the past four summers as a teaching artist with Portola Valley Theatre Conservatory (PVTC), located in her native SF Bay Area, CA. There, in addition to teaching acting and directing summer shows, she designed and led their Summer Access Program.
