It's our job to help inform our Queen Anne Elementary community about important dates & deadlines, school needs, community events, celebrations and more. We use a wide variety of tools in our communication routine to help accomplish the goal of keeping everyone well-informed.
Communication Channels
The best way to stay connected is to make sure both the school and PTSA have your up-to-date contact information. For the PTSA, we collect this information each Fall in the Back-to-School Form. Please make sure someone in your family completes it!
PTSA website - qaeptsa.org Our school website is a great resource to find information like the events calendar, staff profiles, school info, enrichment schedule and more. The PTSA website is maintained by QAE PTSA volunteers and a continuous work in progress.
PTSA Event Calendar - qaeptsa.org/calendar Our school calendar is visible on our home page and at qaeptsa.org/calendar. The calendar averages the most monthly page visits (aside from the home page) on our school website. The calendar is maintained by a team of QAE PTSA volunteers—if you notice a missing date, please let us know.
The Rocket Reader - qaeptsa.org/rocket-reader The Rocket Reader is our weekly all-school newsletter. It includes information that is relevant to the entire school community. Important dates, social events, enrichment information, community celebrations, school-wide volunteer needs, fundraising activities, and district & legislative announcements are all common topics in our weekly newsletter. It has a strong readership and is managed by a team of QAE PTSA volunteers.
PTSA Facebook Page -facebook.com/qaeptsa Here we share community celebrations, reminders, and information on upcoming events. Feel free to share our posts! This is also managed by QAE PTSA volunteers. Like us on Facebook.
QAE Community Discussions - www.facebook.com/groups/1665795410301660/ This is a private Facebook group of parents, staff and other members of the community. It is not run by the PTSA and anyone member of the group can post. It's a great place to ask questions and hear what's going on in the community. View the group.
Twitter - twitter.com/qaeptsa We follow QAE staff and retweet their exciting classroom and school adventures. Our QAE PTSA Twitter account is linked to our Facebook page for a broader audience. And it's managed by QAE PTSA volunteers. Follow us on Twitter.
Classroom Coordinator Emails (classroom) Teachers are busy. The role of the classroom coordinator is to facilitate the teacher by taking on some of the administrative duties like recruiting classroom volunteers, securing field trip chaperones, coordinating Halloween & Valentine's Day parties, finding an auction art project lead, and other classroom-specific needs. Classroom Coordinators are parent volunteers and are a tremendous support to our teachers. Classroom Coordinator related information is sent via email.
Orange Folders These folders are brought home and returned about once a week. It's a great resource to find finished schoolwork, homework, field trip permission slips, classroom communications, event and activity flyers, etc.
Seesaw Many teachers are using Seesaw to share updates from their classes as well as allow kids to post directly. Ms. Roy also uses it for weekly updates to the whole community. Check with your child's teacher for more details.
