General Enrichment Information for 2019-2020 Enrichment Programs will be run by KidsCo. The goal of Enrichment is to include a variety of class types to meet the interests of students, with offerings for all grade levels. KidsCo will host classes Monday through Friday, with options for all grades each day. There will be three 8-week sessions offered over the year:
Fall: Oct. 14th - Dec. 19th
Winter: Jan. 13th - March 20th
Spring: Apr. 6th - June 12th
Most classes are tuition-based; all have scholarships available. If you would like to know more about scholarships, please contact KidsCo.
Spring 2020 Info and Registration
Spring after school classes run from April 6th to June 12th. Registration opens Saturday, Feb. 29th at 7am and runs until Sunday, March 15th at 11:59pm. All registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Once a class is full, you can sign your child up to be put on the waitlist and will be notified if a spot opens up. Upon completion of registration, you will receive immediate confirmation of successful registration. Cancellations and/or transfers are accepted up to Sunday, March 15th, 2020 at 11:59 pm. No cancellations or transfers are permitted on or after the first day of the current session. There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee included in the price of each club. This fee will be deducted from refunds for cancellations.
All after school clubs will meet in the Gym after school. Once all students are signed in, instructors will take them to their designated spaces. Parents will pick up outside on the blacktop immediately after clubs are over. Children can have a small snack to bring with them to eat at the start of the club. All classes are 1.5 hours!
If you are late picking up your child from clubs, and after calls have been made to locate late families, and if there is space at Kids Co., your child will be able to drop-in at Kids Co. We require a completed drop-in form before your child can attend – available from the onsite program manager. Kids Co. will charge you the drop-in fee for that day. If you are late picking up your child from clubs three (3) times in one session, families will not be allowed to enroll in clubs for the next session.
Chess Club with Chess Mates - Grades 1-5 $157 Join the QAE chess club! Learn tactics and strategies, play serious and just for fun games, solve chess puzzles and quizzes. All materials are provided, just come ready to learn. Creative Coding - Level Up!- Grades 3-5 $372 Your child can code their own games, art, and (wait for it...mobile apps!) What? Yes, it's true. Our class for grades 3-5 is open to all experience levels. Students will bring their own ideas for the games and animations they wish to create, and our teachers will guide them towards their goals. A variety of challenges will supplement each coder’s own projects, which they’ll get to show in a presentation at the end of the class! Beginners will spend the first few lessons learning the basics of coding and how to use Scratch before diving into their own projects. Our classic Creative Coding experience is designed to be repeated as many times as desired, as each student continues to hone their skills through the individual assistance of our awesome instructors. Your child will have so much fun, they’ll hardly realize how much they’re learning.
Kids Create: Animal Tales - All Grades $250 Come make art with us! This 9-week series focuses on animals and visual story-making with mixed media. Create whimsical cloth birds and nest sculptures, shrinky dink mosaics, alien stuffies, felt pattern books, and crazy creatures out of old, discarded toys and paper clay. Bring your imagination and join us for some mixed media fun!

Little Hands Creations: Machine Sewing - Grades 1-5 $235 Students are invited to learn a skill they will use for a lifetime and a hobby they will forever enjoy...sewing! No experience necessary for boys and girls to learn the basics and beyond. New students will learn machine safety and beginner sewing techniques, while the more experienced students can expand on skills they already have. The class will begin with a simple project, then students will advance at their own pace to more exciting and challenging projects throughout the session. This class is designed to teach children with both beginning and advanced skills. Projects, which are constantly rotating during the quarter, includes backpacks, phone cases, clothing, and much more!
Maker Mania with Seattle Recreative - Grades K-2 $195 Maker mania is crafting with recyclables sprinkled with STEAM. Classes are process oriented with plenty of time for personal exploration of materials. The teacher will present the students with materials and a sample to start from. Students then use the materials available to create whatever they choose. Some past projects have been pom pom shooters, water bottle cars and marble runs.
Mathnificant: Magic the Gathering League - Grades 2-5 $295 Math 'n' Stuff’s after-school Magic program teaches the basic rules of the Magic: the Gathering collectible card game! Magic: the Gathering is a card-based strategy game that combines elements of both chess and poker in which each player brings their own pieces to the game and chooses their own strategy to enact. This program will be accessible for both new and experienced players. New wizards to the program will start with their own Planeswalker decks to duel their friends. Through our league system, wizards will earn points for playing games and completing achievements, which they can spend to acquire new and exciting cards and supplies! Wizards will learn complex strategies, develop a community of friends built around Magic, and practice personal integrity and enjoyment of the game.
Metropolis Dance Hip Pop - Grades 2-5 $270 This upbeat dance class gets the students movin' and groovin' after school! Each class incorporates stretching, energetic warm-ups, and of course- dance games! Students learn a choreographed dance routine throughout the course and an opportunity to perform at our Metropolis Dance Show! (Media release required to participate in our show)
Mode Music: Sing Along - Grades K-3 Info TBA
Mode Music: Ukelele - Grades 2-5 $245 (Optional $30 fee to purchase ukelele) Come learn ukulele with us! Whether you’ve played before or have never picked one up, our group ukulele class gives students the opportunity to pick up and instrument that they can take with them anytime, anywhere. Basic knowledge of the instrument is introduced while learning to tune, strum, read tablature and read chord charts. Students will leave being able to pick out simple, familiar melodies and play a few 3 chord campfire songs. A demonstration of learned material will take place the last day of class during the last 30 minutes.
One on One Sports: After School Hoops - Grades K-3 $205 Join One on One Basketball this semester for After School Hoops®, an ideal after school activity for aspiring athletes. Basketball is a unique sport that combines upper and lower body motor-skill learning with an intense cardiovascular workout. Our organization has decades of experience teaching this sport in a motivating, inclusive and age-appropriate manor. After School Hoops® makes three guarantees: your child will learn, sweat and have fun!
Pacifica Writer's Workshop: Make Them Laugh, Comedy Writing and Performance - Grades 1-5 $248 Do you have a child who enjoys being the class clown? Do you have a child who just enjoys a good laugh? In this class, students will learn about different kinds of comedy writing and some tools to make their writing funny. They will then craft jokes, essays, and stories sure to entertain the entire family.
Parkour and the Art of Movement by Kong Academy - Grades K-2 $315 Parkour and the Art of Movement is the ability to move fluidly through your environment from one place to another. In this class, children will safely learn to progress through the basic parkour movements of jumping, vaulting, climbing, swinging, balancing, and rolling. The movements build strength, balance, and coordination. Your child will acquire the ability to engage with their environment while overcoming obstacles, both physically and mentally. Our program is based on the 5 pillars of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), which are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Practicing parkour skills fosters creativity and boosts confidence. Stone Soup Theatre: Improv - Grades 1-5 $215 Join Stone Soup Theatre for a class in theatrical improvisation. We'll teach you to trust yourself to make up stories and characters as you go, learning story structure along the way. Creativity, confidence, and basic acting skills come together in this fast-moving class. Concludes with a performance for families and friends.
Stone Soup Theatre: The Lion King - Grades 2-5 $215 Join Stone Soup Theatre for acting games, drama exercises, and a staging of excerpts from The Lion King. You'll act out the story of Simba, a young lion who is to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands. After Simba's uncle murders Mufasa, Simba flees into exile. Features favorite songs like "Hakuna Matata" and concludes with a performance for families and friends.
Young Engineers: Bricks Challenge - Grades 1-5 $295 The objective of this course is to impart theoretical and applied knowledge in the fields of Science, Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by using LEGO® and other exciting tools. The main goal is to illustrate content through stories and demonstrations. Students will learn mathematics and physical principles through intuitive study; develop their independent learning; and improve their building skills. Once the concepts have been demonstrated, students enjoy hands on building the LEGO® models which provides experiential learning and reinforces the lessons. Theme this session: Classical Mechanics. We'll learn about powers and principles in physics: speed increasing and power increasing transmissions, drive and driven pulleys, centrifugal force and centripetal force, mass and gravity and angular momentum. Models built in class: windmill, power plant, crane, elevator and many more!
