Jump Start at Queen Anne Elementary

Greetings family members of incoming QAE Kindergarteners!

2019 Jump Start Info from the Kindergarten Team

On behalf of the kindergarten team, I want to say how excited we are to get to know your children! Hopefully, we will be able to meet most of them at Jumpstart. If you are unable to come, please reply to this email and just tell me a few things you think we need to know about your kiddo. If your plans have changed and you are no longer coming to QAE, please reply to this email and to [email protected] to let us know ASAP! 

What you can expect for Jump Start Aug 19th-23rd:
  • Drop off at 9am. When you walk in the front of the building there will be someone to direct you to what classroom to bring your child. Students will be divided into 2 groups. Each day they will be with a different teacher and groups will be shuffled halfway through the week.
  • Please pack a snack and a water bottle. We do not know about student allergies at this point so we are asking for NUT FREE snacks. 
  • Pick up will be at noon in the same classroom where you dropped your child off. 
  • Please bring a printed copy of the student health form on Monday! This is required. Please also fill out the survey so we know your child is coming! 

Some other things you might be wondering:

Class placements: After Jump Start, the Kindergarten team will assign students to classrooms based on their needs and personalities. These placements will be available for back to school night. Your child's teacher will schedule a family meeting during the first week of school. Remember, kindergarteners don't start until the following Monday, September 9th. 
 
Supplies: Your child only needs to bring a backpack and a lunchbox (if they are bringing lunch from home). The teachers will buy supplies in bulk, and payment information will be sent home on the first day of school.

More about Jump Start

Jump Start is a free, district-wide week-long experience for Kindergartners to learn about school. Children will become familiar with their new school building, staff, typical school day activities and practices. Their parents/guardians will be able to meet with the school principal and ask questions about school. Teachers start to build relationships with students and observe their skills and strengths.
