FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2019 2019 QAE JOG-A-THON Our only kid-powered fundraising event of the year!
Get ready to kick off the QAE school year with one of the most fun events for our community: the QAE Jog-A-Thon! If your family is new to the school, you may not know what the Jog-A-Thon is or how much fun it can be for kids, families, and your extended community. The Jog-A-Thon is our student-driven fundraiser. It's also a wonderful way to share our students' project-based learning, social emotional skills, and one-to-world global citizenship program with friends and family
Volunteer
Your support is appreciated! Depending on your interest and schedule, you can:
sign up for a volunteer shift at the event (passing out water, marking kids' lap cards & more)
join an evening work party the week of the Jog-A-Thon (sorting shirts, pinning on lap cards, prep)
stop by on the 4th as your schedule allows
simply encourage your own student to meet their lap and/or fundraising goals
This is QAE’s fourth year using online fundraising for the Jog-A-Thon. We have had great feedback from QAE families that this system was efficient and very user-friendly. It’s also secure: PledgeStar doesn’t share email addresses with anyone and doesn’t expose students’ personal pages on the web unless you choose to share their private link via social media.
Click on "Not Registered For this Year's Event?" and enter your name, email address and create a password. Enter you jogger's name and teacher. Note: if you registered with PledgeStar last year, use the same email address and the system will remember all your contacts. Cool, right?
If you're new to the system, you'll be asked to upload a photo (if you'd like) and provide 3-10 email addresses for family and friends so our system can send a personalized email from your child.
After you enter the emails, our system will send a sweet letter from your child(ren) is sent to potential sponsors via PledgeStar -- it’s pretty darn irresistible with YOUR student’s photo there on the letter! Sponsors also see an inspiring little slideshow that shares some of the amazing things our PTSA does with the funds we raise.
You can share your student's PledgeStar link on Facebook and other social media if you wish!
After a supporter makes their donation, PledgeStar will acknowledge their generosity with a thank you email and a receipt for tax purposes. You’ll also be notified immediately that they contributed.
Have someone who wants to donate by check rather than credit card? They can go ahead and fill out the PledgeStar form online and select the "check" option. You will receive a notification of their donation and they'll receive a receipt for tax purposes. Have them make the check out to "QAE PTSA." Just drop off or mail the check to the office and it will get to the fundraising team. If mailing a check, remember that our address has changed:
Queen Anne Elementary c/o Jog-A-Thon 2001 4th Avenue North Seattle, WA 98109
Questions about anything? See the FAQ below or email [email protected] and we’d be happy to help! We are very excited to celebrate our amazing community and share the joy of the Jog-A-Thon!

Frequently Asked Questions
Getting ready during a previous Jog-A-Thon
Can my student walk if they can’t run or don’t like to run? Yes! Some students run the entire time, some do a combination of running/walking and others choose to walk. Participation is what we’re aiming for at this fun event.
Does the Jog-A-Thon still happen in inclement weather? Jog-A-Thon will take place rain or shine. We plan this event early in the year, which usually means good weather, but we’ve definitely run in the rain in prior years. Rain or shine, we’ll provide some tips closer to the event to help you prepare your student for forecasted weather.
Do we need to bring anything on the day of the Jog-A-Thon? Every student receives a Jog-A-Thon t-shirt that will be distributed the morning of the event. Water is provided so all your student needs the day of the event are comfortable running clothes, appropriate shoes and a great attitude!
Do we have to raise money to participate? While we hope that families will be able to fundraise to the degree they feel comfortable, our goal is that every QAE student participate in the Jog-A-Thon and feel proud of their accomplishments. Our student-driven fundraiser is a big part of our school’s fundraising plan and aims to raise $40,000 to support things like: curriculum enrichment, including art class for each student; social-emotional learning curriculum and teacher training; tutoring programs to help students succeed in reading and math; and instructional assistants to reduce the teacher/student ratio in early grades.
Note that PledgeStar automatically assigns each student a goal of fundraising $150. This is only a guideline and is auto-generated for every student at QAE. Some students raise over $150, others raise less - just have your student do their best to help QAE in a way that feels comfortable for your family!
What is the timing for each group of runners? While the schedule is still being finalized, we anticipate that the running will take place starting at 11:45am and ending with the all-school party immediately following the last set of runners.
Does it cost anything to participate? No, our generous community sponsors help support this event, allowing us to provide a t-shirt to all students and cover event expenses.
