The 4th Grade is raising funds towards Islandwood 2017 with a special restaurant night (and day) at Thackeray in Fremont. Just mention "Queen Anne Elementary" when you order and 10% of the proceeds will be donated. It’s available all day long: brunch or dinner, as well as take-out. See the Thackeray site for their menu and hours. Hope to see you and your family enjoying food and supporting QAE on Sunday, Feb. 26th!
Know any families interested in becoming part of Queen Anne Elementary next school year? Make sure they get all the paperwork taken care of: school choice forms are due by February 24th, 2017! Sibling Reminder: If you have a student currently enrolled at Queen Anne Elementary and plan to send your other child/ren to QAE, you must complete the Open Enrollment for the incoming sibling(s). Got questions? We've compiled info about the timeline for enrollment, helpful tips and links on our Prospective Students page. KING5 Meteorologist Rhonda A. Lee gave a great shout-out to Queen Anne Elementary and our 5th grade classes after visiting the school this week! Rhonda was there to talk about diversity in the sciences. All are welcome at our Winter QAE PTSA general meeting. It's at the cafeteria on Wednesday, Feb. 8th from 6:30-8 p.m. Childcare will be available in the library. We'll be covering some important topics, with a focus on the future of the Enrichment program at QAE and school funding.
Help Us Brainstorm on Enrichment Classes at QAE As our Enrichment registrations have significantly increased this year, this creates challenges for running a fulfilling, safe, and fair program on a daily basis. Please join us to discuss our Enrichment successes, hopes, concerns, obstacles, and possibilities for the program. We know enrichment classes are an important part of many families' QAE experience and want to hear your thoughts on how we can have a sustainable program as we plan for next year and beyond. Legislative Update - School Funding There's lots going on in the legislative arena, including the QAE PTSA Board of Directors endorsing full funding of education, the "levy cliff", creative approach status, and option school status. Come join us to learn more about these topics and continue the discussion of what we can do about them. Please join QAE's Families of Color group on Tuesday, Feb. 7th, 6-8 p.m. at the school library. Our theme for the meeting is "Education is Revolutionary" and will have our Legislative Reps Ian Stewart and Christa Winquist presenting on what is happening now and what this all means for QAE, students of color, and other topics.
We will also have Michele Christensen giving us tools on how to absorb all that is coming at us politically and what we can do to support ourselves and push forward. Everyone is welcome. Hope to see you then! See the Families of Color page for more details... |
