Exciting news, the yearbooks have arrived. Teachers have them and will hand them out on Wednesday, June 18 (Field Day) for signing. If your child will miss school on that day, please ask your child's  teacher for a yearbook.

Dear Parents,
Last night the Seattle School Board selected the new math curriculum for Seattle K-5 schools.  After public testimony and a "robust" discussion among the board and SPS staff, Math in Focus (Singapore Math) was adopted in a 4-3 school board vote.  The dual curriculum adoption was withdrawn early in the meeting by Director Peters and McLaren and replaced by an amendment for the single adoption of Math in Focus.  

SPS posted the announcement here with further links to the math adoption process and the school board discussion on SPS TV.

If you placed an order at the auction or online, look for them to come home with your child on Wednesday. If you have not ordered one but would like to, they are still for sale! A few hardback copies are available for $100 and softbound for $35. A copy is on display in the office if you are curious and want to see it first. Checks can be made out to the PTSA and brought into office and placed in the cookbook envelope.

This year's 4th grade class has been fundraising all year for Islandwood.  While the PTSA generously offered to cover any shortages, both parents and students felt the earning our way was important.  

These two super fun events were originally offered at the auction, but are still available for sign up!

QAE Family Outdoor Movie Night – Friday June 13th
Bring your blanket, chairs, and the entire family for the QAE 3rd Annual Outdoor Cinema. Get cozy with your loved ones and enjoy the company of your fellow QAE families while watching a family-friendly movie. A fresh taco bar will be on hand for your dinner and a popcorn stand will be chugging away. And, of course you can’t end the evening without an ice-cream treat!  Sign up here.

Parent’s Night Out- End-of-the-Year Party at Targy’s

The first ever QAE Parents End of the Year Party is scheduled for Thursday evening, June 5th, at 7:00 pm, and will include drinks, food, games, music, good times, and even some door prizes! It promises to be a super fun evening, so book your go-to-girl sitter (the one who can stay late) and rally some other fun parents to join us—there’s plenty of room for more!   We would love to have people sign up ahead of time so that we have a head count to plan for food, etc. – so sign up via this link.  

Ms. Meg and Ms. Hunter will be leading an energetic camp full of unique art experiences and Seattle adventure this summer. Each day students will embark on a field trip, big or small, to take learning out of the classroom and make hands on connection in the studio at QAE. Hands-on learning includes: sculpture making, painting, drama and costume design, creative writing, and more! Some field trips include: 

Frye Art Museum, Olympic Sculpture Park, and Golden Gardens.

While the Queen Anne PTSA does not sponsor summer camps, the 

enrichment chairs wanted to let parents know about summer programs 

run by our club providers at nearby community centers and schools: 

• Musical Theater Camps with Seattle’s Littlest Performers

• Basketball and other sports camps with One on One Basketball

• A variety of programs (Rock Band, Math and Technology, Hiking Adventures, etc.) offered at Lawton Elementary
