We have exciting news for this year's upcoming Dwankhozi Week! QAE will be hosting two teachers, Maurice Masala and Stanley Mwale, from Dwankhozi School. They will be traveling all the way from Zambia to visit with students and staff!
Dwankhozi Week will entail a number of exciting activities including -- MMM greeting for our Zambian teachers, classroom visits, experiential stations and an all school assembly on Friday. The auction will close at 11:00pm on Sunday, April 3. Online Auction! We will be having our annual Spring Instrumental Music evening performance on Thursday, June 2nd, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in the QAE Lunchroom. The concert will feature all Queen Anne 4th and 5th grade Instrumental Music students, including the Beginning Strings, Beginning Winds, 2nd year Winds, and 2nd year Strings. All Instrumental Music students are expected to attend this performance, and should arrive at the QAE lunchroom by 6:00 p.m. for tuning and warm-ups. Looking forward to it!

The portal supports our efforts to provide equal access. The portal is in support of the district's ongoing commitment to ensuring that communications for district sponsored programs, events and activities are accessible to district students, staff, families and community members with disabilities. The portal provides many valuable resources including information about accessible technology and resources to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to access website content, software and equipment. Every student will receive a 2015-16 yearbook courtesy of QAE PTSA. The PTSA is committed to purchasing one yearbook per student — if you would like to puchase an additional yearbook, you may do so here: 2015-16 Yearbook. The cost is $20 and the deadline to order is April 22. The yearbook committee is deep into creating the 2015-16 yearbook and could use more classroom candids. If you have any classroom photos to share, please email them to [email protected]. Thank you! The Yearbook Committee Spring is here and the weather is ever changing! Sweatshirts, coats, hats and water bottles are piling up in the lost and found! Be sure to swing by both the Treehouse and Brick to check for missing items.

Closes Wednesday, April 13 The district wants your input related to the transition to the new bell times. The survey will focus on three topics important to a successful transition to the newly adopted bell times:
Boundary Change Community Meetings As part of the growth boundaries approved in 2013, there will be boundary changes for 18 attendance area elementary and nine middle schools (including McClure) in Fall 2017. SPS Board approves expansion of Preschool and Accepts State Kindergarten Fee Subsidy The Board recently voted to approve the expansion of Seattle Preschool Program classrooms. In addition, they agreed to accept state subsidy for full day kindergarten in all of the district's elementary and K-8 schools. Beginning in the 2016-17 school year, families will no longer pay tuition for a full 6-hour day of kindergarten. Family Survey Scheduled for April The annual Seattle Public School Family Survey is scheduled to be distributed the week of April 18. The Family Survey provides an important opportunity to reflect on your child’s school and the district. Stay up to date on District News and Events here! SIFF Education invites youth to participate in our Films4Families (Ages 8-12) and FutureWave (Ages 13-18) juries during the 2016 Seattle International Film Festival (May 19 - Jun 12). We need only TWO MORE parent volunteers to help with a ONE time focus group for our BEX Levy building design architects. Prior to coming, the architects ask that you come with index cards with your thoughts, hopes and dreams for the "new" school.
