Fund Drive Update: 65% of Goal remaining - 9 days to go!

10/21/2012

Queen Anne Elementary is an exceptional Option School - let's all contribute to the school we all chose for our children!

As of today the PTSA's annual giving campaign is at 16% participation and just over $26,000! Our goal is 100% family participation and $75,000. We need you to reach the Stars and keep our amazing programs funded! Whether you can contribute $5, $50, $500, or $5,000-- your contribution is appreciated and needed. Any give is just what we need.

The PTSA funds the following - we need your support to continue these programs for the current year and beyond!
-  Ms. Meg and our art program -- 100% PTSA funded.
-  Our school psychologist, Julietta Skoog -- 50% PTSA funded.
-  Our Social and Emotional Learning programs (Positive Discipline, Kelso's Choice, Roots of Empathy) -- 100% PTSA funded.

-  The PTSA funds other educational enhancements, enrichment programs, and 21st century learning tools. Your contribution will have a direct impact on every child's education at QAE!

This is the only time of the year that the PTSA asks for direct contribution. We are 35% of the way, and we have 9 days to reach our goal of $75,000. We need your help now!

Thank you for your support! You can easily donate online.

Important PTSA Board Request

10/18/2012

We really need your help!  Whether it's a few hours a week or even less, please consider lending a hand.  Our PTSA Board is almost complete, but there are still some vacancies in important positions like Before and After School Clubs Co-Chair.  If you or someone you know are interested in helping to help shape the future (and near future) of our school, please consider self-nominating or sending us the names of people who might be interested.

DON'T be afraid to join the board!  Many who have successfully served had no prior board experience - just passion, understanding of our school's vision, and a strong desire to help.

Please submit any names to Jill at jillga@me.com

Featuring Superintendent Jose Banda
Monday, Oct. 15, 2012
7:00 - 9:00  p.m.
John Stanford Center, Room 2700

Please join us  for our first Seattle Special Education PTSA General Meeting of the 2012-2013 school year on
Monday, October 15, 2012  (7-9 pm).

We are pleased  to welcome our guest speaker Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Jose Banda.   As you know, Superintendent Banda began his work with Seattle Public Schools this summer.  He met with the leadership of the Seattle Special Education PTSA in late September to discuss special education issues and will hold an additional listening session in late October.  Our general meeting will provide our members with an opportunity to hear from Superintendent Banda directly and engage in a Q&A session on the issues most important to our community.

The meeting will also provide you with an opportunity to renew your PTSA membership.  Last year's membership expires at the end of October.  Bring cash or a check.  General membership fees are $14 and educator memberships are $10.  Membership keeps our PTSA robust and enables our PTSA leaders to advocate for your interests.

Please mark your calendars.  Bring a friend.  We look forward to seeing you there!

"Crazy Town" (4th & Boston)

10/3/2012

This intersection is still in severe need of reliable volunteer crossing guards!  We need a "minimum" of 2 adults here AM & PM to keep both pedestrians *and guards* safe at this very busy intersection, (more is preferable).  Currently, there are still shifts with NO ONE signed up.

Please, please, please sign up for a regular shift if it is at all possible with your schedule.  One-time shift coverage is appreciated, as well, so if that is what works for you, great!  If you'd prefer to be a backup for those inevitable sick days, be sure to include your phone number when you sign in and send an email to qaeptsa.parent.volunteer.coord@gmail.com to that effect.

REMEMBER: Be sure your background check form is current and on file in the main office.
Thank you!
