Even in the midst of the pandemic and remote learning, it's time to start thinking about enrollment for the 2021-22 school year (hopefully all in person!). Queen Anne Elementary is hosting a series of virtual tours as well as an open house for all prospective families (whether you have an incoming Kindergartner or have an older child).

It also has some information about what makes Queen Anne Elementary unique as well as some helpful details about the SPS enrollment process. At this point, we don't know if school will start in-person in the Fall, but we do know the teachers and classroom organization for Queen Anne Elementary. We will have 11 classrooms as we had in 2019-20 and we're happy to share that all our teachers are returning.

Staffing Updates:
We will see how the COVID-19 pandemic impacts SPS which, as always, SPS plans to review staffing allocations across the district in late September. If you have any questions on QAE's staffing for next year, please contact Janine. We need YOU to help show our school to local families who are interested in attending Queen Anne Elementary next year.

Questions? Contact Kristi Barnes at [email protected] Seattle Public Schools is offering a FREE SUMMER PROGRAM for any student grades K-4 who are below grade level in literacy and/or math. It runs from June 28th through July 28th and includes transportation as well as meals. See the Summer Staircase site for more details.  Know any families interested in becoming part of Queen Anne Elementary next school year? Make sure they get all the paperwork taken care of: school choice forms are due by February 24th, 2017!
Sibling Reminder: If you have a student currently enrolled at Queen Anne Elementary and plan to send your other child/ren to QAE, you must complete the Open Enrollment for the incoming sibling(s). Principal David Elliott has put together a message for our community regarding the latest enrollment numbers, the staff's excitement over how QAE is developing, and their collective commitment to excellence. These numbers will change as parents enroll their children over the coming weeks. At this time, based on these preliminary numbers, QAE will be hiring one kindergarten, one 1st/2nd grade, and one 3rd/4th/5th grade classroom teacher. In addition, we will be hiring a PE teacher, Special Ed and Librarian/Technology Coach - all of which will be required to hold various teaching credentials as we anticipate folding them into the curriculum. Jobs at QAE and other new schools have been posted one week earlier than other positions in the district; thus giving us a head start on hiring. However, there are a number of open positions in the district and hiring will be competitive. As our enrollment continues to increase, the district will continue to evaluate the need for additional teachers and additional hiring will take place. The sooner we have a final picture on the number of students, the better prepared we will be for the coming year.
