Picture Day at Queen Anne Elementary is next Friday October 7! Envelopes are going home with the students, please complete the forms and return them to school. You can pre-order by clicking the image below.
One of our own Queen Anne Elementary families is opening a new restaurant,
Pecado Bueno, in Fremont in mid-October. To prepare for the opening, there will be a “staff practice” night on October 6th from 5:00pm to 8:30pm. All Queen Anne Elementary families and friends are invited to come and sample the food, drink, and atmosphere. A voluntary donation at the door of $15 per adult, $5 per child is suggested with all proceeds being generously donated to the Queen Anne Elementary PTSA. Because this is a “practice session” for the Pecado Bueno staff, bring a little patience but be assured of great food and the great company of other Queen Anne families. While you wait, there will be appetizers of ceviche, taquitos, and chips/salsa as well as Margaritas, Beer, and milk or soft drinks for the kids. IMPORTANT: All QAE families and friends are welcome to come! If you plan to attend, please RSVP with the approximate time you and your family will arrive using the following link: http://pecadobueno.eventbrite.com. Having an approximate count of how many will arrive for each time window will help the staff plan for the evening. We’d love to have your help! You can contact [email protected] if you’re interested! (volunteers must be 18 yrs or older) Thank you for helping our QAE community enjoy staying physically fit! All of our 5th Graders, including our crossing guards, will be gone for the week of October 3-6 for their trip to Islandwood. We need 8 parents, grandparents or friendly neighbors to step up each morning and afternoon to provide crosswalk safety for our kids. Joe Bailey-Fogarty will be holding a training session for our "emergency staff" this Friday 9/30 at 4pm in the Treehouse & another on Sunday at noon.
Please email [email protected] ASAP with the shift(s) you can commit to next week! Come one, come all to help the PTSA clean up the school grounds, this Sunday, October 2nd, from 9AM until noon. We will focus on cleaning up the entrance in front of the brick building, so that's the place to meet. Bring your weeding tools, and wear your gardening gloves, as there are a lot of weeds to pull!
If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please contact Kristin Teske at teskes@comcast. Put the QAE Jog-a-thon on your calendar for Friday, October 21st!
Our big Fall fundraising event is the Jog-a-Thon, and it’s coming soon! The Jog-a-Thon is a fun afternoon of energy, exercise, and enthusiasm that includes all students at QAE, and is our main kid-powered fundraising event for the year (we won’t be selling wrapping paper, candy or cookie dough!). The kids collect sponsors then have a blast jogging around the school grounds, while they feel great about doing their part to raise money for their school and special events they love like field trips. Every student who participates receives a QAE Jog-a-thon t-shirt, plus the chance to win prizes, thanks to generous donations from our community event sponsors. During the first week of October a packet will come home in orange folders with more information and sponsor forms, so it would be great to start thinking about who might want to sponsor your kids- friends, family, neighbors, anyone who would like to support QAE. What we need right now are some additional event sponsors- these are community businesses who give a contribution to help cover the costs of the event so that all of the money that the kids raise goes directly to the school. The event sponsors will be featured on the t-shirts, acknowledged in QAE communications, and at the event itself. If you or someone you know might be interested in being an event sponsor, please contact Holley Ring [email protected] or Mary Lee [email protected]. We are also looking for parents who would like to be part of the party… We will mostly need people to help set up (starting about noon) and then to count laps, serve water, and cheer the kids on through the afternoon. If you would like to volunteer to help at the Jog-a-thon, please contact Holley. Thanks for your support of QAE! There will be a bake sale from 6:30 PM to 9 PM on Curriculum Night, Tuesday, September 27.
