Many hands make light work! Please come out this Sunday, April 24th from 10am on, and help get the garden ready for spring! Bring the kiddos, a few snacks and stay as long as you can. We will be turning the soil, mixing compost and planting our spring garden.
If by chance the weather turns to rain, volunteers are welcome to come out next week whenever you may have an hour or two to spare! Thank you! Please join 5th grade students after school on Tuesday, April 26th for a Bake Sale/Arts Sale to raise funds for Rainier Beach High School Freedom School summer program!
The RBHS Freedom School is an incredible program that supports Rainier Beach high school students in organizing around social justice issues in Seattle. 5th grade students had the amazing opportunity to work with members the Freedom School as part of our MLK assembly. They taught us all about educational equity, and several students participated in a SPS Board Meeting to help support the Orca Card program this past February. Unfortunately, the Freedom School has just lost a major source of funding and needs to raise $20,000 by next Friday in order to keep the program running for this upcoming summer! 5th graders and QAE teachers want to do all we can to support RBHS Freedom School and keep it open! 5th graders will be putting on a baked goods and original art fundraiser in front of the Treehouse next Tuesday. We hope that you join us and participate in fighting for educational opportunities for ALL of Seattle's young people! If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Goldman (5th Grade) at [email protected]. There’s still chance to be a part of QAE’s first poker tournament! Come join us on the evening of May 7 for dinner (catered by Dumpling Tzar!), drinks, door prizes (gift cards galore!), and a raucous poker tournament at the home of Keelan and Ted Lehmann.
Whether you are a Vegas level poker player or have never played before, there is a space for you! Participant entry is $100, but if that isn't your style, no problem! Come cheer on your fellow QAE parents for only $25. ALL proceeds go directly to benefit your child through the QAE PTSA. To register please email: [email protected] Teacher Appreciation week is coming up in two weeks! It's not too late to sign up if you have a favorite snack to share. There are still a few spots left to fill.
