WSDOT will close the Alaskan Way Viaduct for approximately two weeks beginning Friday, April 29, as Bertha, the SR 99 tunneling machine, excavates beneath the structure. The closure will be between South Spokane Street and the south end of the Battery Street tunnel.
School bus transportation and commute times for nearly all schools will be affected by the closure.
Families and staff should plan ahead for increased congestion and longer travel times during the upcoming construction.
Our Transportation Department staff are helping our school staff, bus drivers and families prepare for the two-week closure.
