On Wednesday, June 4th, the Seattle School Board selected the new math curriculum for Seattle K-5 schools. After public testimony and a "robust" discussion among the board and SPS staff, Math in Focus (Singapore Math) was adopted in a 4-3 school board vote. The dual curriculum adoption was withdrawn early in the meeting by Director Peters and McLaren and replaced by an amendment for the single adoption of Math in Focus.
SPS posted the announcement here with further links to the math adoption process and the school board discussion on SPS TV.
Many thanks to the QAE parents and community who contacted SPS and/or the school board concerning the math selection.
