Whether you are enjoying a warm weather beach in a far off land or a local Seattle stay-cation hot spot, hope you are all having a great Spring Break!
Just a few reminders for the return to school next Monday:
Queen Anne Elementary will be hosting a 2 week food drive, Monday, April 20 - Friday, May 1, to benefit the Queen Anne Food Bank. The QAFB is located in Lower Queen Anne and provides about 80-100 households each week with pantry staples such as cereal, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, soups and frozen meats, along with fresh produce. They also serve on average 100 bagged lunches a day, each with a meat sandwich, a vegetarian sandwich, pastries, chips or crackers, yogurt or fruit and a cup of hot soup made by volunteers in our kitchen. Depending on items in stock, they also allow participants to take as much fruit and bread as they wish.
QAFB Mission: To provide healthy food assistance to low income and homeless people in Seattle. To serve every person that comes to our door without discrimination and with the utmost respect for their dignity. Large Boxes will be placed in each of the buildings on Monday, April 20th, after Monday Morning Meeting. Last year our school donated 396.4lbs! A HUGE contribution and we hope to do it again this year. Thanks for considering a donation from your pantry to theirs! If you have any questions, please contact Anne Marie Canlis. Do you know someone who would be great as a Queen Anne Elementary elected officer? Or maybe you are looking for a way to serve our school community? We are seeking to fill critical PTSA leadership roles for the 2015-16 school year. To do so, we need your help! Nominate someone you know or nominate yourself! Nominating a candidate does not obligate anyone to the position, the Nominating Committee will reach out to nominees prior to bringing a nomination forward. Election of officers will take place at the final General Membership meeting (May/June, Date TBD). To be eligible to vote or serve, PTSA membership is required.
