Drivers to the Lincoln site,
We have made changes to the traffic pattern for drop off and pick up of students. We apologize for the changes but the original plan of coming from different directions and making a u-turns in the parking lot was simply unworkable. Painters were here last Friday night to re-paint for the new plan and it looks great—with one ***glitch. The Plan—Morning drop off Drivers walking students into the building: Enter the parking lot from the Interlake (west) side After entering the lot take an immediate left where the sign says, “Enter” Park in the lot and use the newly painted crosswalk to enter the gates onto the playground An adult or eventually a crossing guard will be at the crosswalk Exit through the east gate onto Woodlawn and turn left to 45th Drivers dropping off students without parking: Enter the parking lot from the Interlake (west) side Pull straightforward to the crosswalk along the right (south) side of the double lane Please wait until your car is third in line from the crosswalk before you let your child exit the car on the right (south) side of the vehicle. Students will walk inside the red line to the playground. Soon we will have patrol students opening doors and helping students disembark. After dropping off your student you will exit the parking lot through the east gate onto Woodlawn and turn left to 45th Buses Buses will enter the parking lot from the Interlake (west) side Buses will park on the left (north) side of the double lane Students will exit the bus and cross at the crosswalk while all car traffic is stopped Buses will exit through the east gate onto Woodlawn and turn left to 45th Important drop off note This plan will work only if those drivers dropping off students do not get out of the car and disrupt the flow of the drop off lane. If you need to attend to anything with your child while dropping off please pull into the lot, park your car, attend to whatever it is and walk students to the crosswalk. One car can create havoc if it impedes the flow, other parents get frustrated and try to pull out and go around. The Plan—Afternoon pick up The traffic flow for afternoon pick up will be the same. A problem area will be if a large number of cars are waiting in the drop off/pick up zone and begin to overflow onto Interlake or block the entrance to the parking lot for other drivers or buses. We would encourage you to park your vehicle if the number of cars create a hazard. ***The Glitch: There are arrows painted in both directions on the exit onto Woodlawn. Anyone entering there will either head on with oncoming traffic or encounter a “Do Not Enter” sign in the lot. We will attempt to get that remedied quickly. Comments are closed.
