We’ll play strategy board games and classics alike, outdoor games and computer games, and we’ll dig in to what makes them successful games or duds. We’ll learn about creating games, with at least one visit from a game designer and a field trip to a video game company. During the week, students will also have the chance to create their own games on a computer, on paper, with dice, cards, or any other tools they’d like to incorporate. This class is limited to 30 students. VISIT SEATTLEEXPLORERS.COM TO ENROLL! Instructors: John Brannan, Joe Bailey-Fogarty, and another guest teacher to be announced soon. WEEK 2 IS FULL! WEEK 3 FOCUS ON MUSIC JULY 20 - 24, 9:00-3:00, AT QAE What makes a sound become music? Are some patterns just automatically pleasing, while others are instantly disturbing? How do professional musicians create and share their work? During this week, we’ll explore these questions and many more. We'll learn about non-traditional music formats such as found sound, synthesized, and digitally sequenced or composed pieces. Students will bring any musical knowledge they have, whether they’re novices or experts, and create their own compositions using a variety of styles, techniques, and media.
