Students then applied a clear overglaze and the fish were fired in an electric kiln. Today we are featuring kid art, made into beautiful and useful items for you to enjoy! Ms Cryan Leary and Palumbo’s Kindergarteners used a marbling technique to stain paper, resulting in beautiful swirls of color in a glossy finish on the front of each note card, sold in packs of 10. To start this week off right we’re featuring WINE!! In addition to the all-school Rocket bottles available, four classes have created their own custom labels that will be sure to make wonderful gifts for your friends and family! For sale are a selection of 6 high-end wines from Northwest Cellars with labels featuring a hand-designed template designed by a QAE parent and your child's name, her/his custom artwork, class name, and year. Ms Cryan Leary and Palumbo’s Kindergarteners are showing off their art technique with beautiful marbled paper. Ms Meck’s 1st graders created beautiful and, frankly, hilarious self portraits. Drawing from their Spring bird PBL, Ms Teske’s 1st graders created their own whimsical birds. Mr Liner’s 3rd graders took inspiration from their salmon PBL to create gorgeous watercolor illustrations inspired by the fish's life cycle.

Today’s featured items have a little something for everyone! If you are a Kindergarten family, please check out the What's in My Heart? Kindergarten grade-level photo book! This photo book captures QAE’s kindergarteners in sweet, candid shots, arranged by class. The grade-level “What’s In My Heart? What's in Your Heart” Project-Based Learning project was the inspiration for this book, capturing the heart of your child in photos and their own words. Ms Thibault’s second graders have lovingly curated a collage of Our Queen Anne Elementary, as it looks before our remodel. As a class they discussed what our community means to us, what it looks like, what the major changes will be, and what we’d like to remember. The photos the second graders took have been arranged in a 16x20 collage-style poster that’s perfect for framing. It’s a great piece of memorabilia for anyone at Queen Anne Elementary! Two classes have created limited edition copies of their projects that can be enjoyed by the whole school! First, please enjoy a pack of notecards Ms Dickens’ students created while drawing from two of their project-based learning units, Communities and Whales, along with applying several artistic techniques learned in their art class at QAE and by studying local artists. Four classes have created individual art to be printed on the labels of a selection of 6 high-end wines from Northwest Cellars (which will be featured tomorrow!) and you can also support our school with your purchase of a custom-designed wine bottle(s) featuring a label designed by one of our QAE parents, printed onto award-winning wine. We have 446 bids on 117 items in the first two days, and have already raised $10K+. Six items have double-digit bids, and half of the items have 4 or more bids. But it's not too late: we have over 20 items that don't have a bid yet, so there are some bargains to be had. And we've added several items this week, including a Nintendo Switch game console, which is so hot it sold out within hours of being released on Friday. Can't get it at stores, but can get it at the QAE Auction! Daily Drawing Winners Our first four Via Tribunali Pizza winners are ... (drumroll) ... Kevin Rinderle, Melissa McTavish, Pia Silverlieb, and Rebecca Selah! Congratulations! Want to win? • Are you good at emails? Following up with a list of individuals and checking their names off when you receive a response? We need a parent volunteer to help follow up with our QAE staff and teachers on their Sign Up Parties. Can you say Yes to 30 mins a week for the next 3-4 weeks? • Do you like a puzzle? Do you like seating arrangements? Our awesome 5th grade parents, who have done this for years, would like to train and pass the baton of how to arrange the QAE Auction seating. If you are able to commit to learn this year and arrange seats for next year please let us know. Sign up with a friend! And you can work on seating arrangements over a glass of wine. • Printing Contact? We are looking for in-kind donation or deep discount to help print our Auction brochure. Do you have a contact or would your company be able to help donate their copier services? • Student Photos - Natalia Dotto, QAE parent and photographer, need help shuttling kids to and from their classroom. Do you have a 2-5 hours at the end of February to help rename and organize the pictures with the students LAST NAME, FIRST INITIAL of the student.
